Let’s play ketchup.
THIS June, I’ll be heading to Cali for a 7-week cycling adventure that starts in San Diego & ends in Virginia Beach with a group of strangers with one common goal….to help provide clean, safe water & medical supplies to people in Africa.
These are basic human needs we take for granted. I know I do.
I go to my sink, refrigerator, bathroom, grocery stores & restaurants all the time and get/use water never thinking how blessed I am to have CLEAN, SAFE water. I go to the doctor believing that they have the sterile supplies that I need to make me well. We are all really, really blessed.
WHO I’M DOING THIS WITH:
Blood:Water Mission is a grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crisis in Africa that was founded by Jars of Clay. Visit Blood:Water Mission: http://www.bloodwatermission.com
B:WM has partnered with Venture Expeditions who uses intense physical challenges, like biking across countries or climbing mountains, to raise awareness and funds that benefit hurting and hopeless people around the world. Visit Venture Expeditions: http://www.ventureexpeditions.org/
WHY I’M DOING THIS:
If you know me, you know I’m no cyclist and, in fact, I don’t even own a bike…yet. I simply feel this is something I need to do. I’m tired of just talking about being brave. I’m tired of not reaching my fitness goal. I’m tired of sipping lattes while people go without clean water and I do nothing.
I want to change physically, emotionally and spiritually helping others in crisis.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
I’m going to need lots of help before & during this trip. I need people to pray with and for me. I need to raise money (about $5K). I need people to donate stuff for yard sales or cycling supplies and I need people to ask me how my training is going and encourage me to train hard and not get discouraged.
For you locals, on Saturday, January 29th, I’ll be having my first Ride:Well yard sale! If you have things that you’d like to donate, please let me know. You can drop off or I can pick up. I’d love for you to come and buy some of the donated treasures.
If you’d like to donate online, you can here: http://www.ridewelltour.org/ and just click the “donate” tab and make sure you choose me (Amanda Fisher) OR simply donate on this site via PayPal.
I’ll be updating my website with blogs about training, bike purchases and financial updates on here…so, please come back and check on me!
Thanks for your prayers, support and encouragement. I need all of them! Much love!
